Ontario Long Term Care Association Applauds Ontario Government’s New Legislation to Strengthen Senior Care
The Ontario Long Term Care Association (OLTCA) commends the Government of Ontario for the Protect Ontario by Building Faster and Smarter Act, a bold and timely step forward in strengthening the continuum of care for seniors across the province.
Ontario is at a pivotal juncture. Over 48,000 seniors with complex care needs are waiting for long-term care, yet outdated infrastructure and system delays continue to limit access. If passed, this legislation will help change that. It also moves us closer to a future where seniors can age in place, near family, friends, and the familiar places that bring comfort and meaning.
Long-term care is also a vital economic driver, creating local jobs, supporting trades and services, and strengthening the social and economic fabric of communities across Ontario.
Today’s announcement marks a critical moment for long-term care in Ontario. OLTCA and our members welcome this shared commitment to improving quality, safety, and dignity in aging and look forward to working closely with the government to bring this vision to life for seniors across the province.
