Hamilton Tiger Cats visit Chartwell Brant Centre

Earlier this summer, three players from the Hamilton Tiger Cats came roaring into Chartwell Brant Centre Long Term Care in Burlington, Ontario, for a special meet-and-greet event with residents and staff. The retirement community’s celebration room was decorated in black and gold for the occasion, as were the many residents who couldn’t wait to shake hands, receive autographs and take photos with players Aaron Crawford, Sergio Castillo and Kay Okafor.

Resident John—sporting his favourite Ti-Cats jersey—was smiling ear-to-ear for photos as he showed the players his stripes. In fact, John played for the Junior Tiger Cats back in 1948 and won two national championships. He he’s also been inducted into the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame.

“It was so special for John to meet with the players today,” Lorianne recalls. “This team has so much history, and it was a wonderful thing to have two generations of Ti-Cats players together under one roof.”

Residents, staff and family members lined up for autographs and photos while enjoying pizza and refreshments. Chartwell Brant Centre LTC even had a special cake ordered for the occasion.

“The event couldn’t have gone any better,” concludes Lorianne. “On behalf of Chartwell Brant Centre LTC, I’d like to thank The Hamilton Tiger Cats for their visit. They are always welcome back!”
