Becoming an Administrator in LTC

There are 2 options for meeting the requirements to be employed as an administrator in a long term care facility in Ontario:

1. Complete a designated course in long term care management offered by Canadian Healthcare Association ; Ryerson Polytechnic University; Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and Services for Seniors (OANHSS)

2. Apply through the OLTCA Administrators’ Certification Program  to meet long term care home regulatory requirements and program standards.

Ontario Long Term Care Association’s Administrators’ Certification Program provides individuals who have significant relevant experience and education with formal certification as a Long Term Care Facility Administrator. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care accept this designation to meet the regulatory and Long Term Care Home Program Standards of LTC home adminstrators.
