OLTCA

OLTCA is the largest long term care provider association in Ontario and the only association that represents the full mix of long term care operators - private, not-for-profit, charitable and municipal.  Our member homes are regulated by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and provide care and accommodation services to residents throughout Ontario.

OLTCA’s members operate 430 long term care homes in communities throughout Ontario that provide care and accommodation services to nearly 50,000 residents. This represents approximately 70% of the total long term care homes and 66% of the long term care residents in the province, including 25% of the not-for-profit beds.

Over the course of its 48 year history OLTCA has developed a strong tradition of using a solution oriented approach to advance care and services to meet the changing needs of Ontarians.

A Brief History

The association was founded in 1959 as the Associated Nursing Homes Incorporated of Ontario and later became the Ontario Nursing Home Association. In 2000 we changed our name to the Ontario Long Term Care Association to reflect the evolution of the Association as the catalyst behind the issues for Members and their residents in step with the growing need for long term care services. You can learn more about the Association in “Compassionate Journey: 40 Years of ONHA”.

There is no room for short term thinking when it comes to long term care.
