Culture-change study helps Revera earn innovation award for second straight year
Seeds of Change will be presented at July conference
A culture-change study developed by Revera Inc.’s national Dementia Care Network has earned the organization an LTC & Senior LINK Spirit of Innovation award for the second straight year.

The study, called “Seeds of Change,” was developed by the network, which consists of an interprofessional group of clinicians dedicated to improving care for seniors, to garner suggestions and best practices from the more than 1,300 front-line staff members surveyed about their experiences managing responsive behaviours.

Resulting from the study has been staff training for programs with a resident-centred approach — the defining aspect of Revera’s care philosophy and central to the organization’s commitment to culture change.

“The Seeds of Change began as a commitment to advancing the quality of life for those caring for and living with Alzheimer’s disease and/or other related dementias,” explains Dan Kaniuk, Revera’s senior vice-president of long-term care.

“Its impact continues to reverberate through our organization, as we adopt and embrace person-centred care. We’re honoured that we are being recognized by the LTC Link Spirit of Innovation Award for what we so strongly believe is important work.”

Adding to the honour of winning the Spirit of Innovation award is an invite for Revera to present the case study at the eighth annual LTC & Senior Living LINK conference in Chicago July 30 to Aug. 1.

The event is bringing together long-term care leaders to share their innovations and best practices with peers. Revera is among 12 Spirit of Innovation award winners for 2012 that are being recognized for innovation, dedication to continuous improvement, development of best practices and commitment to the long-term care sector’s success.

LTC & Senior Living LINK is a U.S.-based marketplace of best practices for long-term care providers, featuring education, networking and consultative business meetings.
